The first decision when you get a website is usually this: should you start with a ready-made template, or have a custom design built from scratch? Each is right in some situations. The comparison and questions below make the decision easier.

The difference in short

A ready-made template is a site designed in advance for a particular industry. It is filled in with your own text, photos and logo. It goes live faster and is more affordable. Its structure and layout are largely fixed.

A custom design is built from scratch around your business, your customers and your sales flow. It takes longer and needs more work. In return you get an identity and a flow that are specific to your business: a quote wizard, a product selector, a 3D view and so on.

5 questions to help you decide

  1. How quickly do you need to go live? If you need to be visible within a few days, a ready-made template comes out ahead.
  2. Is your sales flow standard? If "the visitor looks, then messages on WhatsApp" is enough, a template will do the job. If you need steps for sizes, options, calculations or quotes, you need custom work.
  3. How important is it to stand out from competitors? If the look of your brand is part of the sale (luxury products, architecture, design), a custom design makes the difference.
  4. Is your content ready? If you have no content yet, it may be smarter to start with a template and produce the content over time.
  5. Will the site grow later? If you plan things like memberships, multilingual content or a connection to another system, say so at the start; the structure is chosen accordingly and there is no cost of moving later.

A path in between

Another option is to take a ready-made template and have it set up with your content. The template keeps its speed, but the text, photos, forms and WhatsApp links are adjusted to your business. Each of the templates in our store has a live preview, so you can browse them and see for yourself which one suits your business. Frequently asked questions

Can I start with a ready-made template and move to a custom design later?

Yes. For many businesses this is the most sensible path: go live quickly with a template, see what works, and move to custom work once the needs are clear.

If I use a ready-made template, will I look the same as other sites?

There may be other sites using the same template. With your own photos, text, logo and colours the template clearly becomes yours, but the structure and layout stay similar.

Is SEO worse with a ready-made template?

It depends on the template. A template that loads fast, has a clean heading structure and works well on phones is a good foundation. The real difference comes from content: pages that describe your services, your area and your customers' questions.
