How do you keep your place on Google when moving to Shopify?
WyvUP Ekibi · · 1 min read

Moving an e-commerce site from another platform to Shopify is more than transferring products, customers and orders. The place you have earned on Google over the years depends on old addresses being correctly linked to the new ones. If this step is skipped, visitors and search engines hit "page not found" on old links.
1. An inventory before the move
List every address on the old site, including products, collections, blog posts and pages. Before the move, map in writing where each one will land on the new site.
2. A redirect for every old address
Each mapped old address is linked to its new counterpart with a permanent redirect. When we moved our own site to Shopify we carried over 123 redirects; even on a small site the number is higher than you'd think.
3. Product, customer and order history
Product descriptions, images, variants, customer records and order history are moved to the new admin. Customers' accounts and past orders must not be lost.
4. Check again after launch
Once the site is live, old addresses are tested one by one, broken links are fixed and errors in Search Console are monitored.
We handle migrations to Shopify from Etsy, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce, Ticimax, IdeaSoft, ikas and T-Soft. Details are on the Web & Shopify page.
